Couldn’t pass this up.

The Amharic weekly Addis NeGer Newspaper had this box on it’s Saturday (TiQimt 29, 2001) issue. I found it too irresistable to, as stated above, pass it up.

It is really funny but Meles may say this never matches Ethiopian case we did everything per the constituation …

For God sake, you guys (Mesfin, Abiy & Tamirat) should find some way to post your quality paper on this website so that we can read and know the current situation from teh real political analyst mouth.

While we are @ it, Yonas.. I have a thing or two to tell the Addis NeGer people.

Lately, and by lately I mean for the last three issues or so, the stress they put on “Yegna Sew BeAmerika” has become somewhat disturbing. It’s like:

“As Obama’s chief-of-staff told, exclusively, LeAddis NeGer Zegabi, Obama’s Policy towards Africa in general, and the horn of Africa in particular, will be etc etc as Obama’s Chief-of-Staff told Addis Neger’s Zegabi, exclusively.”

You’d wanna tell them you got it!, their Zegabi is in america! and has gotten to places Addis Admass’s Zegabi hasn’t. Now can we get on with our lives?!

What’s more, Abiy has way too many columns these days. I guess it’s understandable, this being a historical moment and Ethiopians needing their hero as well as the next country (Kenya!!), us wanting as much Obama as we can get and their willingness to give it to us. A newspaper needs it’s bag of changes, after all. But diversity is what made that newspaper true to it’s name. There is Mesfin, the voice of reason. There is young Mr. Tamrat, always impressing me as going out of his way to try and poke the cat’s nose. There is Getachew (was it?) whose articles I simply adore but makes me wonder if it was Meles writing in alias. Don’t ruin it for us, guys!
